THE HANDY HARVESTER SCHEME (2H - S)

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The Handy Harvest Scheme (HHS) entails the deployment of simple and mobile-driven harvesting, threshing and bagging equipment to rural youths and women to mechanize the harvest and threshing of produces in farm clusters.

The scheme targets to improve the quality of harvested agriculture products e.g., rice, maize, millet, soybean, sorghum etc and creates a minimum of 40,000 direct on-farm and an estimated 100,000 indirect off-farm jobs for unemployed youths and women in rural communities while also alleviating poverty and reducing crime rate at the rural areas.

Due to the relatively high cost of the simple mechanized equipment as a result of the prevailing foreign exchange rates, a favourable subsidy mechanism with flexible repayment plans is set aside to balance the inflation effect to achieve the programme objectives.
