PRIVATE SECTOR DRIVEN AGRICULTURAL MECHANISATION PROGRAM (PSDAMP)

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The Programme is designed to bridge the gaps and strengthens collaboration between Public and private sector investment to deepen and expand the delivery of Mechanization services to farmers especially the smallholder by deploying high-quality mechanization equipment, finance expertise, mechanization extension and capacity building services using a tested and proven Equipment Leasing Model (ELM).

NAMEL bring on desk Mechanization and financial experts to re-engineer financing of Agricultural Mechanization to guarantees farmers access to affordable farmgate mechanization services through the establishment of Agricultural Equipment and Hiring Enterprise (AEHE’s).

The objectives of the programmes are:

• Short-Term Vision: Deploy 10,000 units of tractors and other mechanized implements through a special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) between 2018 to 2023 to establish 2,500 Agricultural Equipment Hiring Enterprises (AEHE).
• Medium-Term Vision – Lead a novel indigenous Mechanization Industrialization process that ensures at least 10-20% local content inclusion in Mechanized equipment in Nigeria.
• Long-Term Vision – Coordinate an innovative Agricultural Land development and liberalize Mechanization services that are available, accessible, and affordable to all farmers ensuring 70% substitution of imported farm equipment with locally viable manufactured farm machinery
